THE SORCERERS **

There are several reasons why "The Sorcerers" has come to be regarded as one of the ultimate cult movies. It was one of only three films to be directed by the then 24 year old Michael Reeves who was to die of a barbiturate overdose two years later and it gave the great Boris Karloff one of his last really good parts as the sinister Professor Montserrat whose experiments with hypnosis turns handsome young hero Ian Ogilvy into a killer. It also gave the great Catherine Lacey one of her few really good film roles as his Lady Macbeth-like wife. Its late sixties setting has aged it but its use of London locations is good and while not the most frightening of horror films it is both intelligent and at times unsettling.
